KPK ready to reclarify president-elect`s wealth

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has expressed its readiness to re-clarify the wealth of the presidential and vice presidential candidates who have won the recent election, a KPK spokesman said.

"We will make the reclarification if the people need it," the KPK report affairs director on the state`s officials wealth (LHKPN), Muhammad Sigit said here on Tuesday.

The wealth clarification process might be conducted after a presidential/vice presidential duo is decided as a pair elect.

"We will process the LHKPN of the presidentl/vice president-elect but normally there is a communication (on this matter)," Sigit said, adding that KPK had made the wealth clarification following the confirmation on the presidential/vice presidential candidates.

However, there is a possibility of making a re-clarification after the decision about the presidential/vice presidential elect, he said, explaining that the re-clarification can be conducted after a period of time, which enables a significant increase of the wealth.

"We can ask to make an adjustment (of the wealth), before making the report of each position," Sigit said.

Clarification after determination of the presidential/vice presidential elect can be implemented based on the rule of Law no.28/1999, on the clean and free from corruption, collusion, and nepotism, and the Law no.30/2002 about the KPK, stipulating that state`s officials are obliged to report their property at the beginning of their services.

In addition, the state`s officials are also obliged to report again after concluding their term of office, and should update the report every two years during their services period, he added, quoting the rule
